My Journey to Holistic Health

As a mother of four and a former teacher, creating conditions under which one can flourish is what I have spent a lifetime developing. It was a circumstance close to my heart that led me to holistic nutrition. When my youngest son was diagnosed with asthma, several respirologists and other specialists concluded medication and some minor lifestyle adjustments were the only options for him to achieve adequate respiration.

My son was put on a nebulizer (a machine and a mask where you inhale medication) three to four times a day and other steroid puffers to dilate bronchial chambers. This was not only bothersome for a child but troubling for a mother. The undesirable side effects of the medications were difficult for both of us.

Although genetics certainly play a role in his condition, understanding the underlying cause of his asthma was imperative. I began to study holistic philosophies and was later introduced to The Institute of Holistic Nutrition, where I began my training as a Holistic Nutritionist and later graduated with first class honour. The more I learned, the more I applied to my son’s condition. The more I applied, the better he breathed and the fewer puffers he needed.

With a willing participant who wanted so much to breath well and to be free of the encumbering routine of nebulizers and puffers, we began together the natural healing process. I identified many asthmatic triggers, eliminated all allergens, sensitivities and intolerances; I identified and eliminated as many food and environmental toxins as I could, while most importantly, supporting his body with the right nutrients. What began to unfold was truly remarkable; reduced intensity and frequency of wheezing, mucous, inflammation and congestion resulting in less dependence on puffers, nebulizers and medication.

Through education, proper nutrition and the development of healthy habits, he is now able to manage his condition and restore his health. My son has been off puffers and medication for four years. He is my best supporter as he experienced first hand how the right nutrition and healthy habits are instrumental in well-being.

As a Certified Registered Holistic Nutritionist, I am excited when education, guidance and inspiration empower my clients to take charge of their own health and experience more energy and vitality while achieving their best physical and mental performance.
